everything you own stays yours — sounds you've kept, kits you've bought, favorites, and folders. re-download any time. you can still preview the top of the catalog with no account, hear the top of any kit on its kit page, and buy any kit outright. the full catalog and the for-you feed come with a plan — start with a free month of Starter (100 credits, on us).
03do i need a plan to buy kits?
no — buying a kit outright never needs a plan, and you can preview the top of any kit before you buy it. plans give you monthly credits, which you spend to redeem individual sounds (not whole kits) from anywhere on rooot. so: kits = pay-once whole bundle, credits = pick exactly what hits.
04how does the free trial work?
you get a free month of Starter — 100 credits, on us. we ask for a card up front, but nothing's charged until the month ends, and you can cancel any time before then. cancel during the trial and you keep Starter through the end of the month with no charge — unspent trial credits clear when it ends. stay subscribed and they roll over instead. either way, sounds you've redeemed are yours.
05what happens to my sounds if i cancel?
every sound you redeem stays yours — you only ever spend credits on the ones that hit. re-download any time from your profile. cancelling doesn't revoke previously issued licenses — see the full sound license.
06do credits roll over?
paid plan credits roll over with no cap while subscribed. top-up credits never expire.
07what happens to my credits if i cancel?
you keep plan credits through the end of the billing period, then have 30 days to use what's left. that grace window is for plans you've actually been billed for — cancel a trial before it converts and those credits end with the trial. top-up credits never expire — they're yours even if your plan ends.
08are the sounds royalty-free?
sounds you redeem on rooot. are licensed for use in your music. drums, one-shots, fx, and vocals are 100% royalty-free. loops, MIDI, and stems require clearance directly with the producer when your track passes 1M streams or signs to a major label. full license: sound license.
09can i keep sounds without a plan?
keeping a sound takes credits, and credits come with a live plan — monthly with your plan, top-ups when you need more. sounds you've already redeemed stay yours for good: re-download any time, even if your plan ends. and buying a whole kit outright never needs a plan.
10can i switch plans anytime?
anytime. upgrades are prorated immediately. downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle so you keep what you paid for.
